Catching Up on Three Years of Construction at Quay House

Over the past three years, the construction site at 162 Queens Quay East in Toronto’s growing East Bayfront area has been active, culminating in the recent topping off of Quay House. Designed by Kirkor Architects Planners for Empire Communities, this 21-storey mixed-use development had its tower crane dismantled earlier this month.

Maverick Rises as a New Addition to the King West Skyline

King Street West, in Toronto’s Entertainment District, is home to the rise of several distinctive projects that are transforming the area. Among them is Maverick at 333 King Street West, from Empire Communities. Designed by Arcadis — the Amsterdam-based global firm that acquired Toronto-based IBI Group in Fall 2022 — the building has risen prominently, melding cutting-edge architectural designs with the area’s rich history.

High-Contrast Envelope Emerges as Maverick Grows Above King West

In the unique Downtown pocket where the Fashion District meets the Entertainment District on King Street West, a couple of marquee projects like The Bisha Hotel and Nobu Residences have been focus points for the area, but other projects are earning their place in the sky just the same. Take Maverick, from Empire Communities, as an example; the IBI Group-designed condo tower has shot up well beyond half of the way to its 49-storey height in the last year, and is giving more than a preview of its high-contrast building envelope, as exterior finishes continue to rise up the growing tower.
